Nations FC claimed a commanding 2-0 victory over Asante Kotoko in Week 11 of the Ghana Premier League, a result that saw them rise to the top of the league standings with 22 points.
The Porcupine Warriors’ struggles continued as they extended their winless streak to five matches, with one draw and four losses.
Their dismal run includes defeats to Legon Cities, Heart of Lions, Bechem United, and now Nations FC.
At the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium on Sunday, Nafiu Sulemana put the visitors ahead in the 31st minute, and Faisal Charwetey doubled their lead in the 45th minute, ensuring a comfortable halftime advantage for Nations FC.
Despite Kotoko’s late surge in the final ten minutes, the defensive duo of Akor Grippman and Samuel Osei Kuffour kept the home side at bay with crucial clearances.
Goalkeeper Rabin Sanon also made a critical injury-time save to deny Albert Amoah and preserve Nations FC’s clean sheet.
Nations FC now sit atop the league table as they prepare to host Berekum Chelsea in their next fixture. Meanwhile, Kotoko’s slump has seen them drop to 8th place with 15 points, and they face a daunting trip to Dormaa to play Aduana FC in their next game.
