Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, will officially launch the inaugural Women’s Democracy Cup at La McDan Park in Accra on Thursday, 7 August 2026.
The new tournament is an expansion of the Democracy Cup initiative, which has featured men’s football in recent years as part of a wider effort to promote democratic values through sport.
The launch will formally introduce the women’s competition and place women’s football at the centre of the initiative for the first time.
