Ghana needs a bit of luck at the World Cup – Chris Hughton

Black Stars Technical Advisor, Chris Hughton says the team will need a bit of luck against their opponents at the 2022 Fifa World Cup.

According to the former Brighton and Hove Albion gaffer, Otto Addo’s work will yield results and with a bit of luck, they can achieve their target.

“One thing I’m confident of is the work Otto and the technical staff have put in. This team will be very well prepared and the players will give everything.

“We will have to play well and we’ll need a bit of luck. But we’ve seen in past tournaments that anything is possible for a country like ours,” he told Daily Mail in interview.

Ghana are in Group H together with Uruguay, Portugal and South Korea.

Chris Hughton admitted how tough the group is and how Ghanaians should be measured in their expectations though the Ghana Football Association will expect a solid performance from the team.

“In my conversations with people, I encourage them not to get too carried away, but this is the World Cup.

“The Federation will be expecting us to do well. So will the country. It’s a cup competition and we have to be confident.”

Ghana’s best performance at the World Cup is the quarter finals in 2010.

They begin the 2022 Fifa World Cup against Portugal.
