Ghana international midfielder Elisha Owusu has won the Belgian Cup with KAA Gent after seeing off RSC Anderlecht in the final on Monday afternoon.
Gent clinched the “Croky Cup” for the first time since their last triumph in 2010 by winning 4-3 on penalties at the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels.
The game travelled to the extra-time after both sides failed to find the cutting edge in the regular time even though Gent were slightly on top.
The game ended 0-0 after an entertaining 120 minutes with penalty shootouts deciding the final outcome.
Owusu was introduced in the game in the 106th minute when he replaced Sven Kums to contribute his quota in the triumph. He was booked in the 114th minute.
Compatriots Majeed Ashimeru and Francis Amuzu featured for Anderlecht.
Gent win the Belgian Cup for the 4th time in the competition’s history after previously lifting the coveted trophy in 1963/64, 1983/84 and 2009/10 seasons.
Owusu who had his Ghana debut just last month in the 2022 World Cup play-off made four appearances in the Belgian Cup for Gent this season.
