Red-hot Ghana forward Bernard Tekpetey has disclosed that officials from Bulgarian club Ludogorets have tried to convince him to play for the country he plies his trade.
The Ghana international has not played for the Black Stars since the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations, and was hopeful of making the squad for the 2023 AFCON qualifiers following his fine run of form.
However, he failed to make Otto Addo’s team for the four games next month.
While, he was snubbed by the Ghanaian national football team, members of the Bulgarian Football Union are beginning to show interest.
“Ludogorets officials made an attempt to convince me to play for the Bulgarian National Team but I declined that opportunity because I love my country Ghana,” Bernard Tekpetey told Angel 96.1 fm.
Tekpetey enjoyed a successful season with the Green Eagles, winning the league as well as make the best eleven in the Bulgarian topflight.
The former Schalke O4 attacker scored ten goals and provided nine assists in 24 games for the Bulgarian champions.
