The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially ended negotiations with Chinese pay-TV giant StarTimes over the renewal of their media rights contract.
In a statement, the GFA confirmed that talks concluded in March 2025 after the expiration of the previous broadcast agreement at the end of the 2023/24 season. Despite attempts to extend the partnership, both parties failed to agree on new terms.
StarTimes reportedly owes the GFA USD 842,173.36 from the previous contract. The Association has engaged legal counsel and initiated formal steps to recover this outstanding debt.
“The GFA remains committed to securing a transparent, fair, and mutually beneficial media partnership that aligns with the interests of our clubs, the Association, and all key stakeholders,” the statement read.
With no current broadcast partner, the GFA is now actively searching for a new deal ahead of the 2024/25 season, aiming to boost the visibility and commercial value of Ghana’s domestic football competitions through stronger media collaborations.
