The Disciplinary Committee (DC) of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has passed its verdict on a protest filed against Bofoakwa Tano by a whistleblower for falsifying the documents of a player.
According to the protestant, the player’s name was changed from Yaw Sarfo Patrick to Nyame Stephen Patrick after he was transferred from Unity FC to Bofoakwa Tano at the start of the ongoing season.
And also, the player’s original registration details in the FIFA connect system has his date of birth changed by Bofoakwa Tano from 10th February 1998 to 21st November 2002 to outwit officials of the Ghana FA and his erstwhile club Unity FC, an act that breaches the regulations of the Association.
The whistleblower was seeking that the FA will punish Bofoakwa Tano for the action and as well sanction the player as witnessed in the case involving Tema Youth and Dreams FC in 2016.
However, the DC cleared Bofoakwa Tano of any wrong doing, maintaining that the player was not registered by Bofoakwa Tano, but by another club.
“Kindly be informed that per our checks in the FIFA Connect Registration System and our records, the falsification registration was not done by Bofoakwa Tano FC but by another club who later transferred the player to Bofoakwa Tano FC. Bofoakwa Tano FC only registered the player with all the details provided by the said club”.
The DC further suspended the player and referred his conduct to the Association’s prosecutor for further action to be taken.
“The player’s licence is immediately suspended (all stakeholders to take note) and the GFA Prosecutor will Charge the said club and the player and bring them before the appropriate GFA Judicial Body for adjudication.and sanction (if found guilty)”. The FA statement added.
By the ruling, Bofoakwa United will need a win on Sunday against Berekum Arsenal to secure qualification to the top flight league. A draw for Bofoakwa and a win for RTU against Crocodile Stars will see RTU secure qualification as they have the better head to head after drawing 2-2 in Sunyani and winning 1-0 in Tamale.
