Ghana defender Abdul Rahman Baba enjoys 90 minutes football for first time after injury return in Reading away win –

Black Stars defender Abdul Rahman Baba made Reading FC starting lineup for the first time since his return from injury in their away victory against Friday in the Championship.

Baba enjoyed 90 minutes of football for the first time in about two months after recovering from an injury which ruled him out for several weeks.

The 27-year-old left-back had been out of action since mid-February after picking up a knee injury in a Championship game against Preston North End.

The injury also sidelined the Chelsea loanee from Ghana’s 2022 World Cup play-off tie against Nigeria last month.

Baba was lined up by manager Paul Ince to face Sheffield United in the round 42 fixture where Reading recorded a 2-1 victory to move another step above relegation.

He was on the bench when Reading played against Barnsley, Stoke City and Cardiff City.

Angolan forward Lucas Joao scored first to put Reading ahead in the 17th minute at Bramall Lane.

Iliman Ndiaye drew level for hosts in the 90th minute but got their hearts broken as Tom McIntrye scored in stoppage time to give Reading the vital win.

Baba has been a key member of the Reading this campaign having made 25 appearances in the English second-tier where he has provided one assist in the process.
