Ghana coach Otto Addo speaks about local players ahead of Madagascar clash in Cape Coast —

Ghana head coach Otto Addo has addressed the issue of local players in the Black Stars’ camp ahead of the 2023 AFCON qualifying opener against Madagascar on Wednesday.

The four-time AFCON winners take on the minnows from East Africa at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium at 19:00 GMT.

Two home-based players namely; Daniel Afriyie Barnieh of Hearts of Oak and Bechem United’s Augustine Okrah are in the squad for the clash.

There have been doubts as to whether the two players can secure playing time under the Borussia Dortmund Head of Talent Development.

But, he thinks differently about the subject matter.

“I have been watching videos of some games and they made good impressions so for me it’s also important to see them live in training nothing else. Once you are on the pitch, I don’t care who is local and who is not, big or small. It’s the performance that will decide who is good. Surely, some players are always ahead because experience players will show and those who are leading the Ghana National team,” he told the press during a pre-match event on Tuesday.
