Ghana book Nicaragua for September 27 World Cup warm-up

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed Nicaragua as the second World Cup warm-up opponent for the Black Stars during the upcoming Fifa international break in September.

Coach Otto Addo will lead his charges to face the Blue and Whites in Spain on Tuesday, September 27. The match will be played at Estadio Francisco Artés Carrasco based in Lorca.

This will be four days after the Black Stars have played five-time World Cup winners Brazil. Venue for the Friday, September 23 match with the South Americans is yet to be officially communicated.

Ghana to play Brazil in pre-World Cup friendly

Coach Otto Addo is expected to announce his squad in early September.

Earlier in June, the GFA announced a pre-World Cup friendly with Switzerland to be played at Baniyas Stadium in Abu Dhabi on November 17. The match – which will be the first meeting between the two countries at the senior level – will serve as the final preparatory match for the Stars.

Ghana will open their fourth World Cup campaign seven days later – against Portugal, then South Korea on November 28 before wrapping up their matches in Group H vs 2010 nemesis Uruguay on December 2.
