Women’s representative on Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council and Chairperson for the Ghana Black Queens, Dr. Gifty Oware-Mensah paid a working visit to the regions who participated in the just ended Elite U15 Girls Regional Championship.
Dr. Oware-Mensah conveyed a message of gratitude on behalf of GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku and the Executive Council, highlighting the collective effort and dedication of all relevant stakeholders which had ensured a smooth execution of the tournament.
She also hailed the efforts of the Organizing Committee and the Heads of Delegations from the various regions for their exceptional contribution in making the tournament a success.
Dr. Oware-Mensah supported the regions with some financial incentives to give further indication of her belief in the importance of supporting grassroots football and empowering young female footballers.
Ghana’s quest to nurture the next generation of women’s footballing talent got underway on Monday, 15th July, 2024, with the inaugural Elite U-15 Girls Championship.
The tournament is a key part of the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) implementation of FIFA’s Talent Development Scheme (TDS) aimed at identifying and developing young female players from across the country.
Top prospects from all ten Regional Football Associations (RFAs) converged on the Ghanaman Soccer Center of Excellence showcasing some impressive individual performances throughout the tournament.
