Instead the 22-member body insist they are sticking by their earlier nomination of GFA president Kwesi Nyantekyie as the country’s candidate for western zone B executive committee elections next year in Sudan.
“The Executive Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) finds this latest twist as unfortunate and clearly confusing,” their statement said in reference to a directive from the Ministry asking them to replace Nyantekyie with Abedi Pele for the elections.
“Under the circumstances enumerated, we write to inform you that the Executive Committee of this FA is unable to act or take any further action on your request”.
The GFA says the nomination of Nyantekyie was forwarded to the Conferation of African Football with a letter of support attached from the Ministry.
But KickOffGhana.com understands that letter had been issued to the GFA president by the Ministry without the consent of the presidency which was later approached by Abedi Pele for their backing.
