GFA Prez Kurt ES Okraku Okraku wishes Uwaisa, others speedy recovery

President of the Ghana Football Association, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku is delighted over news that Black Queens midfielder, Uwaisa Mawia has undergone a successful knee surgery in at the Korle Bu Teaching hospital in Accra.

The surgery was fully funded by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) through the GFA Medical Fund.

She adds up to the list of players at the national level including Sandra Atinga, Linda S. Minta (Black Maidens), Barikisu Abdul-Rahman (Black Princesses), Juliet Acheampong (Black Queens) are all direct beneficiaries of this important medical fund initiative.

“ The GFA is delighted that the medical fund that we set up is finally yielding results. Hitherto, we would have struggled to look for funds to take care of these female footballers but finally the Medical fund is given us some relieve.

“Am particularly happy that Uwaisa is on the road to recovery and will soon return to the training and join her team mates. She adds to a list of players who have all benefited from the Medical fund”.

“The GFA will continue to look for means of improving the welfare of our footballers”, he stated.

Juliet Acheampong and Barikisu Abdul-Rahman have already returned to Women’s Premier League action and are actively playing for Prisons Ladies and Pearlpia Ladies respectively.

The GFA is fully committed to the welfare of players at the national level, and has launch a drive to solicit more support for money into the GFA Medical Fund, to assist players who get injured on national team duty.

The GFA wishes all players who have undergone similar surgical procedure speedy recovery and an early return to football.
