The Ghana Football Association has refused to rule out Abu Francis’ inclusion in the Black Stars squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Initial reports from his club, Toulouse FC, suggested the midfielder could miss the tournament due to the severity of his injury.
However, his quicker-than-expected recovery has reignited hope ahead of the global showpiece in North America.
GFA officials insist patience remains key as the player continues his rehabilitation.
“We have to wait for Abu to recover. We pray that he recovers on time and starts field work,” Henry Asante Twum added.
He noted that competitive minutes will ultimately influence selection decisions. “He begins to get some playing time and once that happens, we will take a decision.”
With head coach Otto Addo having until June 1, 2026, to name his final squad, time is still on Francis’ side.
A smooth return to full fitness could yet put him firmly back in World Cup contention.
