Ghana Football Association Executive Council Member Randy Abbey has expressed surprise at reports that Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) will televise the Ghana Premier League.
This comes after media reports emerged that GTV Sports+ has been named the new broadcaster for the next five seasons after StarTimes pulled out of their agreement with the FA.
The reported deal, worth $2 million, makes GTV Sports+ the exclusive TV rights holder for both the Ghana Premier League and the FA Cup.
“I am not aware of GBC telecasting the upcoming Ghana Premier League.,” he said at the 30th Ordinary Congress.
“The only thing I am aware of is that they have written to the GFA requesting the right to run radio commentary.”
The new Ghana Premier League season is set to kick off on September 6, amidst uncertainty over the broadcasting rights.
