The Ghana Football Association has overhauled the Black Stars’ backroom staff with a series of strategic appointments ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The move follows consultations with stakeholders and is aimed at improving preparation, performance, and depth within the technical setup.
French coach Alain Ravera has joined the team as Assistant Coach, bringing experience from stints with Guinea and AS Monaco.
Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Björkegren has also been added, fresh from leading Ghana to a bronze medal at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations and qualification for the next edition.
His inclusion allows the GFA to tap into his recent international success while he continues to oversee the women’s national team.
Spanish tactician José Daniel Martínez Alfonso has been recruited to strengthen opposition analysis, scouting, and match preparation.
Martínez Alfonso currently works in Major League Soccer with Atlanta FC as an assistant coach and video analyst.
The medical department has been reinforced with the return of physiotherapist Carlos Lozano Romero, who previously served the team at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Rounding off the additions is British-born Ghanaian Dwayne Peasah Paa Kwesi, appointed as Performance Coach to oversee conditioning and player optimisation.
