Germany’s football legend and FIFA World Cup winner, Jurgen Kholer, has applied for the vacant coaching position for Ghana’s national football team, the Black Stars.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) recently parted ways with Chris Hughton following the team’s exit from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Kholer, 58, who boasts a UEFA Pro License and over 15 years of coaching experience, has formally applied for the role.
Having managed teams like the German U21, Bayern Leverkusen, and FC Viktoria Köln, Kholer is seen as a strong candidate, meeting the criteria set by the GFA.
His extensive playing career includes stints with prestigious clubs like Juventus, Borussia Dortmund, and Bayern Munich.
Notably, Kholer was part of the German squad that won the 1990 FIFA World Cup, contributing to the team’s success as a defender. Known as the “Football God,” he brings leadership, discipline, and a proven track record in team development to the table, aligning with Ghana’s search for an experienced and successful coach.
