Radio guest RMCin the program of Jérôme Rothen, Rothen ignitesChristophe Galtier swept away all the subjects of PSG, and more particularly that leading to the three stars of his team: Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappé.
The former coach of LOSC and OGC Nice revealed that he had a discussion very early in the season with his trio MNM, about their playing time. According to Christophe Galtier, the three told him that they did not like out of the field: “In Japan, I brought together Leo (Messi), Ney (mar) and Kylian (Mbappé). I approached this subject (to play all the matches), with the very particular schedule. They taught me one thing. They said to me: ‘The moment you want to take us out is the moment when the opponent is letting go and it becomes easier for us. This is where we will take great pleasure in adding one. I told them there would be management at some point. (…) But at a certain point, if you want to win, you cannot take out Messi, Neymar and Mbappé.”
Very fit in this first part of the season, the three stars leave only crumbs to young Hugo Ekitiké (20), almost never a starter (twice) and who scored his first goal of the season in his 12th game with PSG this weekend. However, Christophe Galtier says he can’t help taking out one of the three players: “When you have the happiness of coaching three players like that, I have to make sure – it’s my responsibility – to organize the team around those three. Then there is the story of the match, the fatigue. The script may impose on me the decision to release one of the three. I do not forbid it. Against Juventus, it was Leo Messi who came out, I strengthened the midfield, I injected freshness. It is always to have at least two of the three on the ground. Because, believe me, for the opponent it is a big problem.”
Accomplices in training, according to the French coach, the trio is also on the field, with many assists delivered between them three. But before playing together again in the PSG jersey, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé and Neymar will fight for their country at the 2022 World Cup.
