Fulham yet to lodge official bid for Wolfsburg right-back Kevin Mbabu

Fulham yet to make formal offer for Wolfsburg right-back Kevin Mbabu

Fulham has climbed back into the Premier League once again as the Craven Cottage outfit finished just two points clear of AFC Bournemouth in the Championship in 2021-22 to earn what will be their third season in the top flight of English football in the last five years.

But unfortunately for the Cottagers, longevity has escaped them on their last two attempts to plant roots in the Premier League, though the club has looked to navigate the summer market expertly and has been linked with Wolfsburg’s Swiss international right-back Kevin Mbabu as one of a cadre of players that could add a boost in quality under manager Marco Silva.

As reported by Get German Football while citing national outlet Kicker, Fulham has yet to make a formal approach for the 27-year-old Servette FC academy product but remains interested in the attacking full-back despite a proper bid not being levied as of yet.

Mbabu endured a disappointing 2021-22 in Lower Saxony due to a combination of off-the-pitch issues as well as poor form when on it and was usurped by German international Ridle Baku who was the undisputed first-choice option under manager Florian Kohfeldt last term.

Fulham should have no trouble prizing Mbabu away from the Bundesliga outfit should a formal bid finally arrive at the Volkswagen Arena after Die Wölfe purchased 1.FC Nürnburg’s Kilian Fischer.

Additionally, Mbabu has just one year left on his current contract with Wolfsburg and the club will surely rather receive a fee for the Swiss defender than see him walk for free in twelve months’ time, meaning the ball is surely in the Cottagers’ half of the pitch.
