Fulham closing on deal for highly-regarded Joao Palhinha

Premier League returnees Fulham are, according to reports, closing on an altogether impressive piece of business on the transfer front.

The player inching towards a move to Craven Cottage with a view to next season? Joao Palhinha.

The info comes courtesy of transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who has revealed that the capital outfit are on the verge of adding highly-regarded midfielder Palhinha to Marco Silva’s ranks.

An agreement on the terms of a deal worth €18m plus add-ons is understood to have been reached between the respective boards at Fulham and Sporting CP late last week.

In turn, the ‘final details’ of the 26-year-old’s Cottagers contract are currently being ironed out, ahead of a potential announcement regarding the transfer’s completion as soon as this week.

Should Palhinha, as expected, ultimately go on to seal a move to west London over the days ahead, the Portuguese international will represent the first addition to Fulham’s playing ranks this summer.

This is not to say, though, that the powers that be at the club are not hard at work in a bid to reinforce Silva’s squad ahead of their latest top-flight return.

In addition to Sporting, the Cottagers are also understood to be locked in negotiations with both Manchester United and Juventus.

This comes with fresh blood being eyed both in the middle of the park and at left-back, in the form of Andreas Pereira, and Luca Pellegrini.

Not only that, but Silva and co. have set their sights on out-of-favour Liverpool talent Neco Williams, with a deal for Shakhtar Donetsk wide-man Manor Solomon viewed as imminent, too.

Monday’s transfer rumours: De Ligt, Ronaldo, Gvardiol, Lingard, Saliba and more

Details: West Ham announce signing of Alphonse Areola
