Grêmio forward Francis Amuzu has hinted that a call-up to Ghana’s Black Stars for the 2026 FIFA World Cup could be on the cards.
The 25-year-old winger, who recently secured regular minutes in Brazil after a challenging start, said he is ready and open to representing the West African nation on football’s biggest stage.
“I’ve played very little for Grêmio. So I considered going back to Anderlecht in the summer,” Amuzu told Belgian outlet Het Nieuwsblad. “Anderlecht is my hometown, so it was definitely an option for me. I told my agent, and we were in touch, but it never materialised.”
Amuzu admitted his early months in Brazil were tough, with limited playing time, bench appearances, and even being left out of matchday squads. However, since September, he has become a regular in Grêmio’s lineup.
“The league starts again next weekend. I want to continue on the same path as last season,” he said. “Who knows, I might even be able to go to the World Cup with Ghana.”
Currently contracted to Grêmio until the end of the year, Amuzu’s long-term goal is to secure a move to one of Europe’s top leagues. A former teammate of Manchester City star Jeremy Doku, he is hopeful of finally earning a Black Stars opportunity, having previously declined invitations under former coaches Kwasi Appiah and CK Akonnor.
