Black Stars forward Richmond Boakye-Yiadom scored the only goal to propel Beitar Jerusalem to victory against Hapoel Jerusalem in the Israeli Liga ha’Al on Saturday.
Boakye-Yiadom got the match winning goal to ensure Beitar prevailed in the Jerusalem Derby at the Teddy Stadium in relegation play-offs.
Despite going down by one man after Ivorian defender Yao Eloge was sent off in the first half, Hapoel held Beitar to a scoreless stalemate at the break.
The 29-year-old Ghanaian attacker broke the game’s duck in the 66th minute after he met an excellent cross from midfielder Oren Bitton to head home the only goal of the match.
The vital victory has ensured Beitar move up on the league standings with a 8-point gap between them and the relegation zone.
Saturday’s goal has taken Boakye-Yiadom’s tally in the season to 6 in 26 appearances in the Israeli top division and has two assists to his credit.
