Ghanaian forward Malik Abubakari scored to propel Finnish club HJK Helsinki to the group stage of the UEFA Europa League on Thursday night.
HJK held Danish club Silkeborg IF to a 1-1 stalemate at the Jysk Park to sail through to the next stage of the competition with a 2-1 aggregate scoreline.
The Finnish giants recorded a 1-0 victory over Silkeborg in the first leg of the final qualifying round last week.
Abubakari opened the scoring of the second leg encounter in the 40th minute after connecting a pass from defender Aapo Halme.
The home side drew level in the 75th minute through Danish defender Joel Felix but that wasn’t enough for them to see off HJK.
The 22-year-old Ghanaian joined HJK this summer on a season-long loan from Swedish champions Malmo FF.
He has since managed to find the back of the net twice after 10 appearances, four matches in the Finnish Veikkausliiga, four in the Europa League and two in the Champions League qualifications.
HJK were booted out of the Champions League by Czech Republic side Viktoria Plzen.
