Former Chelsea star Frank Lampard has this week been discussing the talents of Christian Pulisic.
Christian Pulisic linked up with Chelsea in the summer of 2019, after spending the second half of the previous campaign back on loan with Borussia Dortmund.
Since joining the Blues, the American has showcased patches of quality, but has never really had a consistent run in the club’s starting eleven.
Pulisic did enjoy a purple patch at the end of 2019. In 2020/21, however, the attacker failed to piece together a decent run, and only featured in 27 league games, in part due to injury issues. Across these appearances, he scored four and assisted two.
In 2021/22, meanwhile, Pulisic scored eight and assisted five in 38 appearances. Not exactly eye-catching numbers.
And with Raheem Sterling having recently completed a move to Chelsea, it looks as though Pulisic’s game time will be even more limited if he stays at Stamford Bridge this summer.

One man who would seemingly keep hold of the American if given the choice, though, is former Blues boss Frank Lampard.
Speaking about Pulisic recently, Lampard explained why he views the winger as being so ‘special’, and also stated that he needs consistent game time:
“I think Christian can still be a big player for Chelsea, of course, a really big player, but that’s absolutely a question for the club and him,” said Lampard.
“Christian needs to play games. I know what he’s like, he wants to play all the time. He’s had some injuries, I think it’s sometimes held him back at different times in his career. So I just hope we get the right solution. I have a lot of respect for Chelsea. It’s a huge club in my life and career. So I hope we get the best solution for both.”
“I’ve got a lot of time for Christian,” the Everton boss added. “I think I worked well with him and just tried to develop him and had a really good relationship with him. He’s got incredible talent. He’s a great boy. I found him really pleasurable to work with as well as a talent.
“He’s really fast and [has a quick] change in direction and it’s balanced. He’s still a young player. It feels like he’s been around a long time because he broke through so young. So there’s still a lot to come from Christian, but those basics of the speed and balance is not [something] everyday players have. He’s special like that.”
