Former agent opens up on why Robert Lewandowski avoided PL move

Former agent of Robert Lewandowski sheds light on why Polish star never made Premier League move

The former agent of Robert Lewandowski has offered an intriguing explanation as to why the Polish international star has long-avoided a move to England which will undoubtedly validate the opinion of countless Premier League fans.

Cezary Kucharski, a former Poland international striker in his own right, was the long-time agent of Lewandowski and has spoken out as to why the 33-year-old all-time leading international goalscorer for his country looks set to leave Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich but once again avoid testing himself in the top flight of English football.

In quotes from German outlet Sport1, Kucharski has claimed that Lewandowski was afraid of being unable to live up to the same level of efficiency that he exhibited in the Bundesliga since first arriving at Borussia Dortmund from Lech Poznań in 2010 before then moving on to Bayern on a free deal in 2014.

Kucharski also spoke about why Lewandowski was regularly distanced from a move to Ligue 1 outfit Paris Saint-Germain, citing influence from the player’s wife.

But could explain why the Polish goal machine has regularly rebuffed interest from Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester City over the years, and now looks set to secure a move to the Camp Nou and ply his trade under Barcelona great Xavi and bring a veteran presence to the youthful revolution in Catalunya.

Regardless of his reasons, Lewandowski shone to an unfathomable level at the Allianz Arena for eight seasons – not just in the Bundesliga, but in the Champions League as well – where he scored a combined 344-goals in just 375-appearances.

He also went on to become the second-highest scoring player in Bundesliga history behind legendary German striker Gerd Müller, though his opportunity to surpass Der Bomber for first all-time will go wanting.

Despite apparently being adamant about not wanting to test himself against the best that the Premier League has to offer, Robert Lewandowski remains one of the most vaunted strikers in the history of the modern game. It’s doubtful he will have lost any sleep on his pathway to greatness.
