Ghana winger Joseph Paintsil scored and bagged two assists as leaders KRC Genk trounced 10-man Westerlo 6-1 in a 2022/23 Belgian Pro League match-day 13 fixture Tuesday night.
The 24-year-old – with his first start after recovering from injury – didn’t waste time in registering his 4th goal of the campaign by connecting to a chipped effort into the box just after 7 minutes.
Daniel Muñoz made it 2-0 in the 15th minute.
Westerlo did not give in and reacted with a penalty converted by Tuur Dierckx in the 21st minute.
Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu then netted for 3-1 in the 32nd minute after Paintsil set him up with a great low cross.
Paintsil was involved in his side’s 4th goal as he won a penalty after light contact in the Westerlo box. Onuachu stepped up and converted for his brace.
In the 4th minute of additional time, Muñoz also registered his second of the night – 5-1 it was at the break.
Nene Dorgeles got sent off for Westerlo in the 58th minute.
Patrik Hrošovský wrapped up the 6-1 win with his goal in the 79th minute.
The next minute, Paintsil got replaced by András Németh.
