Felix Afena-Gyan gears up for next season after contract extension

Ghana’s Felix Afena-Gyan is preparing for next season after his contract situation with UEFA Conference League winner AS Roma was sorted.

Afena-Gyan was linked to several clubs but the youngster has selected to stay with the capital club until 2026.

He will now focus on getting fit and sharp for the new season. According to reports in Italy, Afena-Gyan might spend next season on loan. His agent has also not dismissed the idea of Gyan going on loan for more playing time.

Born in Sunyani, Afena-Gyan moved to Serie A side Roma’s youth team on 13 March 2021, from EurAfrica FC.

Afena-Gyan was first called up to the senior team on 24 October, in Roma’s Serie A game against Napoli. He made his professional debut on 27 October, against Cagliari.

On 21 November, he came off the bench to score two late goals against Genoa, to give Roma a 2-0 win. The brace made him the first player born in 2003 to score in the Serie A.
