Referees Manager Alex Kotey of the Ghana Football Association has called on StarTimes to expand live TV coverage of matches to improve officiating standards in the Ghana Premier League.
The league has faced huge criticism especially in the just ended 2023/24 campaign where Hearts of Oak and Heart of Lions secured positive results on the final day of the season to survive relegation.
Many believe outcomes were compromised following the manner of goals scored and decisions of referees.
“[I wish] all our matches can be televised live because when there is a live match, the attention and focus is on you [referee],” Kotey told Asempa FM.
“They can show about four matches. I think going forward if we can expand a little bit to get more coverage, it will help.”
The league ended with Samartex clinching their maiden title. Following StarTimes’ rumored exit, the Ghana FA is now tasked with finding a new broadcast partner for the upcoming season.
