An update has emerged on Everton and their pursuit of Ukrainian international Mykhaylo Mudryk following the close of the summer transfer window…
What’s the talk?
According to Calciomercato, the Toffees are one of three clubs showing an interest in snapping the winger up ahead of the market reopening in a few months.
The report claims that Juventus and Arsenal are also keen on the gem and could compete with Everton to land the attacker’s signature in January.
It is stated that the two Premier League clubs may make a move for him midway through the campaign and it has previously been reported that he will be available for a fee in the region of £30m.
Everton’s own Neymar
Frank Lampard could land his own version of PSG superstar Neymar by snapping up a deal to sign Mudryk to bolster his squad in January.
Total Football Analysis compared him to the Brazil international and noted that, like the former Barcelona winger, he has an incredible ability to beat players with the ball at his feet. No player in the Ukrainian top-flight has attempted more dribbles per 90 (11.15) than the Shakhtar Donetsk attacker.
Should Everton sign Mudryk?
His own club once dubbed him “unstoppable” on their official social media channels and talent scout Jacek Kulig recently claimed that he “on fire“, whilst calling him the Ukrainian Neymar.
He made an impressive start to his season in the Champions League earlier this month as he scored once and provided two assists in the group stage against RB Leipzig. This came after he managed two goals and seven assists in 11 league outings for his club in Ukraine last season, which shows that he has a knack for creating chances for his teammates at an eye-catching rate.
At the age of 21, he is still in the infancy of his professional career and has many more years left ahead of him to develop and hone his skills as a winger. There is no guarantee that he will end up with Neymar’s 284 goals and 178 assists (to date) in his club career, but his form for Shakhtar and his dribbling ability suggest that he could be Lampard’s own version of the Brazilian.
He may not end up being worth £200m but his ability to dribble past players and his creative nature could get the Everton fans up off their seats in excitement and the Toffees boss must now push to sign the youngster to see if he can fulfill his potential in the years to come.
