Premier League outfit Everton have opened discussions over a fresh exit for goalkeeper Joao Virginia, according to reports.
For those not aware, shot-stopper Virginia has been on the books on the blue half of Merseyside since all the way back in 2018.
To this point, though, the 22-year-old has managed just a solitary league appearance. Faced with the prospect of another season watching on from the sidelines last time out, Virginia, in turn, was farmed out on loan last summer, returning to his home country of Portugal with Sporting CP.
The ex-U21 international, though, endured an equally underwhelming stint at the Estadio Jose Alvalade.
Sitting behind Antonio Adan in the pecking order between the posts in Lisbon, Virginia was condemned to appearances solely in cup competition, en route to a paltry 8 outings across the campaign’s entirety.

With his return to base at Everton having since given rise to the prospect of a season acting as backup to undisputed first-choice Jordan Pickford, it should therefore come as little surprise to hear of Virginia inching towards a fresh departure from Goodison Park.
As per reliable Toffees transfer insider ‘ElBobble’, talks have been opened between both club and player, over the possibility of a move to the Netherlands with SC Cambuur.
This comes with Virginia, at such a key point in his career, desperate for regular first-team football.
It now remains to be seen whether the three parties manage to find an agreement over the terms of what is likely to be another loan deal.
