American USL Championship side El Paso Locomotive FC has announced the signing of Ghanaian defender Wahab Ackwei from Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC, pending league and federation approval.
The acquisition of Ackwei bolsters the Locomotive’s defense and adds depth to the squad.
The 27 year old brings a wealth of experience to the squad, having played for several teams in the USL Championship and USL League One.
Ackwei’s most recent stint was with the Switchbacks, where he made six appearances and scored one goal.
He had played under Locomotive Head Coach Wilmer Cabrera at Rio Grande Valley FC, scoring four goals and providing four assists in 59 appearances across all competitions.
His impressive performance earned him a spot on the 2022 USL Championship All-League Second Team.
Ackwei’s professional career spans multiple teams, including Loudoun United FC, New York Red Bulls II, and Richmond Kickers.
