Edinson Cavani is attracting interest from Italy after his contract with Manchester United came to end.
Cavani signed for United from Paris Saint-Germain in October 2020 and signed a one-year contract extension last May after scoring 17 goals in his first season.
There have been rumours that Cavani could join River Plate because the Argentinian club will need a replacement for Julián Álvarez, who is joining Manchester City, but that is not where he sees his future.
However, Salernitana president Danilo Iervolino has admitted he is interested in signing the Uruguayan.
“I’d love to sign Edinson Cavani as a free agent,” he said.
“Cavani would be an incredible gift for the city, as Salernitana are staying in Serie A. I will also push to keep Franck Ribéry here for one more season”.
The 35-year-old will leave United with a total of 59 appearances for the club.
