Dutch legend Ruud Gullit has urged Ajax coach Alfred Schreuder to play Ghana youngster Mohammed Kudus in midfield and not attack.
The 22-year-old has been one of the standout players at Ajax this season, scoring 10 goals and providing two assists in 18 apearances across all competitions this season.
However, he has mostly played in the false nine role but Guillit believes he Kudus plays better as a midfielder.
“It’s a mystery why Kudus does not play in midfield. It’s strange to move him around [like that]. He’s a midfielder. In the beginning he was great, really great.
“Then he got injured, but now he’s back. Why doesn’t he play in midfield?,” he told Ziggo Sport Voetbal Café.
Kudus has been included in Ghana’s provisional squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
He is expected to named in the final squad for the global showpiece later this month.
Ghana will take on Portugal in their first game on November 24 before playing South Korea and Uruguay on November 28 and December 2 respectively.
Black Stars will play Switzerland in an International friendly on November 17, before travelling to Qatar for the World Cup.
