Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Chairman, Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, has declared his firm opposition to any attempt by the current administration to alter the GFA presidency term-limit rules.
His statement follows rumors that the administration, led by Kurt Okraku, is seeking to revise the GFA statutes for a third term in office.
Okraku was re-elected in 2023 for a second term, which under the current rules, would see him step down in 2027.
In an interview with Graphic Sports, Nyaho-Tamakloe, who introduced the two-term limit, vowed not to allow any changes that would serve individual interests.
“Positions tend to corrupt people in this country, and when you extend the term, the corruption becomes even worse,” he stated.
“I was the architect of the two-term limit for the FA presidency, and I will not allow anyone to topple the statute to serve their personal agenda.”
“If they attempt to change the tenure, I will fight it with all my strength. It was my recommendation that compelled the FA to adopt this policy,” he added.
