Dr Dave Bishop, CEO and President of Bishop Boxing Promotions, has begun a strategic partnership with Prince De-Henry Educational Complex after being formally introduced as the school’s Co-Director and Executive Chairman.
The new role is intended to support the institution’s academic, sporting and leadership ambitions, with projects planned across boxing, technology, scholarships and vocational education.
Dr Bishop’s appointment was unveiled during Prince De-Henry Educational Complex’s 25th anniversary celebrations at the school’s premises in Laterbiokoshie, Accra, on Saturday, 1 August. The event marked 25 years of the institution’s work in education while also setting out its plans for the next stage of development.
The ceremony was attended by education stakeholders, parents, students, alumni and traditional leaders, reflecting the school’s growing importance within the local community.
Dr Bishop was recently appointed Executive Chairman and Co-Director of Strategic Development and Institutional Partnerships. In that position, he will lead initiatives designed to help transform Prince De-Henry into a centre of excellence combining quality education, sports development and innovation.
His appointment was formally recognised by Obrempong Nii Wetse Kojo and the Paramount Chief of James Town, Fleshier Alata. Their attendance was presented as a sign of the confidence traditional authorities place in the school’s new leadership and direction.
The partnership is expected to include the construction of a modern boxing gym and the creation of an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centre. It will also provide scholarship opportunities, vocational education programmes and a boxing education certificate course.
The proposed certificate course is intended to give young people practical skills alongside their academic studies, making boxing part of a broader educational and personal-development programme.
School authorities described the collaboration as a major milestone in Prince De-Henry’s long-standing commitment to producing disciplined, confident and socially responsible graduates. They said the institution wanted its students to be equipped to make meaningful contributions to national development.
During the anniversary event, officials also reaffirmed their intention to develop a school that supports academic achievement, leadership, entrepreneurship and sporting excellence.
The partnership with Dr Bishop is expected to help accelerate the school’s progress through strategic partnerships, infrastructure development and wider opportunities for its students. Its plans reflect an ambition to expand beyond traditional classroom education by linking learning with sport, technical training and leadership development.
The anniversary celebrations therefore served two purposes: recognising the achievements of Prince De-Henry Educational Complex during its first 25 years and formally launching a partnership intended to shape its future.
As the school begins the next quarter-century of its development, stakeholders believe Dr Bishop’s involvement can help strengthen its academic and sporting programmes while supporting the institution’s ambition to become one of Ghana’s emerging centres of educational excellence.
