Borussia Dortmund have confirmed Giovanni Reyna’s season is over after the youngster picked an injury against VFB Stuttgart on Friday night.
The Bundesliga club confirmed the 19-year-old has suffered a muscle and tendon injury, meaning he will not be able to play again this season.
Reyna has been out for over three months this season, featuring in just 13 games across all competitions as a result.
He was in tears as he left the pitch, minutes into the match at the Mercedes Arena in a match Dortmund ran out 2-0 winners.

Reyna first suffered a hamstring injury during USMNT’s first 2022 World Cup qualifier match in El Salvador last September, which saw him miss up to five months of action for Dortmund.
He then reaggravated the injury on his return for Dortmund at the start of February, which saw him sit out a number of matches also.
Dortmund will also have to do without four other players, including Matt Hummels, who picked a thigh muscle injury.
