Borussia Dortmund officials, led by former player Ibrahim Tanko, have arrived in Accra to launch the BVB International Academy Ghana, the club’s first academy in Africa.
The launch event is scheduled for Saturday, February 7, 2026, and has received endorsement from Ghana’s Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams.
The academy aims to blend BVB’s global standards with a strong Ghanaian identity, offering a structured pathway for young footballers aged 6-18.
The academy will operate from Achimota School, with a dual-pathway model catering to elite and recreational players.
A key focus is community access, with 20% of intake reserved for scholarships targeting underprivileged players.
The launch will feature a youth clinic and a public watch party of Borussia Dortmund’s Bundesliga match against Wolfsburg.
