Manchester City defender Ruben Dias believes that the competition between his team and Liverpool is good for football.
City are just one point above Liverpool in the Premier League and there is a high chance that both sides might meet in the UEFA Champions League finals after winning their first leg ties in the semi-finals of the competition.
“A rivalry like this is what football needs and what every football fan wants,” Dias said after their win against Leeds on Saturday. “Just to make the show better and so everyone can just enjoy football the best way possible.
“We are definitely talking about two fantastic teams who are ready to win. We are on our side and we are focused on getting what we want. We are focused on winning.”
Liverpool still has a chance of winning the quadruple but City might bag a double should they retain the league and win the Champions League; the latter being an accolade that has evaded Guardiola since he left Barcelona.
It is believed that City bosses prefer the Champions League as it is a trophy they desperately need as they aim to match the big teams in Europe.
