An insight into the attempts of Chelsea to mount a last-gasp hijacking of London rivals Tottenham Hotspur’s move for Richarlison has been provided on Thursday afternoon.
The name of Brazilian international Richarlison has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines across the day to date.
This comes with the 25-year-old widely reported to be on the verge of a move to north London, to link up with Antonio Conte’s new-look Spurs.
A deal worth a fee in excess of £50 million has been struck between the respective boards at Goodison Park and the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with Richarlison primed to undergo the first round of his medical tests in Brazil imminently.

As alluded to above, though, had another of the Premier League’s biggest clubs had their way, then the future of Everton’s star attacker may well have laid in a different part of England’s capital.
As confirmed by a host of sources on Thursday, the Blues tried and ultimately failed with a last-ditch attempt to hijack Tottenham’s Richarlison swoop.
An insight into the terms of the proposal put forth by those in a position of power at Stamford Bridge has too been provided, with Chelsea, it is understood, having offered up both cash, and a member of Thomas Tuchel’s ranks in west London.
The bid, though, ultimately arrived too late, with the Pensioners therefore now expected to focus their full attentions on landing another Brazilian attacker, in the form of Raphinha.
#Chelsea’s late offer to Everton for Richarlison was a player-plus-cash deal.
