Ghanaian coach Desmond Ofei has expressed his profound gratitude and excitement after being appointed to the Black Stars’ revamped technical team.
This development comes on the heels of Ghana’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) for the first time in 20 years, prompting the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to make key changes to the national team’s coaching setup.
Reacting to his new position, Ofei described it as a privilege to contribute to the national team’s development.
“Yeah, I mean being part of the technical team of the “A” national team is a privilege. Very honoured to be given the opportunity,” Ofei told Citi Sports.
“I think my role is to make sure that as the head coach as best as I can being part of the technical team is going to be an experience for me personally,” he added.
The revamped technical team also includes experienced German coach Winfried Schaffer, who takes on the role of technical advisor and football director for both the Black Stars and the GFA.
Kris Perquy has been appointed as the team’s psychologist, while Gregory De Grauwe will serve as the video analyst.
