Manchester United star David de Gea has taken to social media on Thursday, to bid a heartfelt farewell to long-time teammate Juan Mata.
Midfielder Mata, of course, saw his Old Trafford departure made official earlier today.
In a post across the club’s social media platforms, United confirmed that their one-time big-money signing, on the back of eight-and-a-half years in Manchester, is primed to move on upon the expiration of his contract at the end of the month.
Thank you for everything, @JuanMata8 — you’ll be missed ?#MUFC

And one individual, as alluded to above, who has evidently been hit hard by the news of Mata’s exit comes in the form of David de Gea.
This comes with the Spaniard, a fellow countryman and close friend of the 34-year-old, having too taken to social media, to unveil an emotional farewell message of his own.
In wishing Mata all the best in the next chapter of a fine career, de Gea wrote:
“Thought this would be a very difficult one to express into words but when I thought about it more, the main feeling I am left with is happiness.”
“This guy has been a teammate, a friend and is my family. The ultimate professional, one of the best players and people you could have grace your life. I’m so thankful to have been on so many journeys with you, happy that our paths crossed, and we shared a dressing room together.
“I love you my brother, I wish you everything and absolutely nothing but joy and success in your next stage of an unbelievable career.”

Roma reunion?
De Gea’s goodbye message to Mata comes fresh off the back of another soon-to-be free agent at Old Trafford, in the form of Jesse Lingard, being tipped for a move to Italy, to link back up with a former Red Devils boss.
As per Italian outlet the Gazzetta dello Sport, AS Roma are considering tabling a contract offer to Lingard, after being contacted by the English international’s representatives earlier this week.
Roma are reportedly considering making a move for free agent Jessie Lingard, but is the move a good idea for Jose Mourinho’s side? https://t.co/BpSUVPgiZz #Lingard #MUFC #Roma #SerieA #Calcio
