Cristiano Ronaldo breaks silence on Erik ten Hag’s imminent Man United arrival

Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has, on Friday, provided his take on the appointment of Erik ten Hag as the club’s next manager.

Highly-regarded tactician ten Hag is of course primed to take his place on the bench at Old Trafford this summer.

The 52-year-old’s arrival, in turn, is expected to spark something of a squad overhaul, on the back of what has proven another alarmingly underwhelming campaign to date.

And one such player to have swiftly been tipped to be forced into a departure comes in the form of the aforementioned Cristiano Ronaldo, albeit with more recent reports having pointed towards the Portuguese icon carving out a place for himself in the United project next season.

In turn, speaking as part of an upcoming episode of TeamViewer Diaries, it came as little surprise when the subject of ten Hag’s arrival was put to Ronaldo himself earlier today.

And the 5-time Ballon d’Or winner appeared altogether enthused by the prospect of things to come at Old Trafford, assuring that all involved with the club are ‘happy and excited’ ahead of next season:

“What I know about him is he did a fantastic job for Ajax, that he’s an experienced coach,” Ronaldo began. “But we need to give him time.

“Things need to change the way he wants.

“I hope we have success, of course, because, if you have success, all of Manchester is going to have success as well. I wish him the best.

“We are happy and excited, not only as players, but the supporters as well.

“I wish him the best and let’s believe that, next year, we are going to win trophies.”

Palace test

Turning attentions back towards the immediate job at hand, Manchester United will of course be back in action this weekend.

In the final outing of what has proven another season to forget, Ralf Rangnick’s troops are set to make the trip to Selhurst Park on Sunday evening, for a Premier League showdown with Crystal Palace.

Ronaldo, for his part, will no doubt be hopeful of adding to his tally of 18 league goals thus far, fresh off clinching the Premier League’s Player of the Month award for April.
