Coventry City appoint former Black Stars Assistant George Boateng as first-team coach

Former Black Stars assistant coach George Boateng has, together with Rhys Carr, been appointed as first-team coaches for Coventry City.

Both will serve as first team head gaffers, to support manager Mark Robinson.

Boateng featured 57 times for Coventry from 1998 – 1999, scoring 7 times in that period.

The 48-year-old was appointed as assistant coach of the Black Stars in May 2022, most notably assisting Chris Hughton at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

He will hope his expertise garnered from the Black Stars will help Coventry move to the next level.

Coventry finished 9th in the Championship last season, but managed to put together an amazing run in the FA Cup, which culminated in a shootout exit to eventual winners Manchester United.
