CONFIRMED: Watford relegated from Premier League

Watford’s relegation to the Championship has been confirmed following a 1-0 loss to Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.

Roy Hodgson’s team needed to win all three points to keep their survival chances alive for a little longer, with the Hornets manager looking for a result against his former club at his old ground.

Watford, however, were relegated to the second tier following Wilfried Zaha’s penalty, which he converted after Hassane Kamara’s handball.

With 21 minutes to go, the Hornets’ poor luck continued as Kamara received his marching orders, making Hodgson’s task of pulling off a remarkable escape even more difficult.

With 10 minutes remaining, Watford’s offensive line hardly bothered the Eagles’ resolute defense, with Craig Cathcart heading over the bar.

Hodgson, who recently confirmed that he will stand down at the end of the season, will not be at Vicarage Road to supervise the Hornets’ move to the Championship.
