Manchester City has opened talks with Bournemouth to negotiate the £65m release clause of Ghanaian winger Antoine Semenyo.
The 25-year-old’s representatives are in Manchester to finalize contract terms, with Semenyo expected to agree to a long-term deal at the Etihad Stadium.
Semenyo’s release clause is active from January 1 to January 10, and City is keen to conclude the signing when the transfer window opens on January 1.
Despite interest from Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea, and Tottenham, City is the only club to have contacted Bournemouth about the release clause.
Semenyo is eager to complete the move, citing the opportunity to work with Pep Guardiola and win major trophies as key factors in his decision.
Bournemouth, however, is hoping to keep Semenyo until January 10 to feature in crucial matches against Tottenham and Arsenal.
