KRC Genk winger Christopher Baah Bonsu has expressed his excitement after earning his debut call-up to the Black Stars for the recently concluded Unity Cup held in the United Kingdom.
The 19-year-old was named in Ghana’s 23-man squad for the four-nation tournament, where the Black Stars bounced back from an opening defeat to finish third with a dominant 4-0 victory over Trinidad and Tobago in the third-place match.
Though he didn’t score in either of Ghana’s matches against Nigeria and Trinidad and Tobago, Bonsu’s energetic displays and attacking flair were among the bright spots for coach Otto Addo, who is reshaping his squad ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
“It was a great feeling getting a call-up into the national team. The call-up means a lot to me as a young player,” Bonsu told Angel FM in Kumasi. “Ghana is blessed with so many talents, so to make the recent squad means I am doing something good.”
His performances at the Unity Cup have bolstered his chances of receiving future call-ups, as the Black Stars prepare for the next round of World Cup qualifying matches. With youth, versatility, and confidence on his side, Baah Bonsu may have earned himself a longer stay in the national setup
