Romelu Lukaku wants to return to Inter Milan if they can agree a deal with Chelsea this summer.
The final decision on the 29-year-old’s future will be taken by Chelsea’s new owners – the Todd Boehly-led consortium.
However, Inter cannot afford to sign Lukaku – who joined Chelsea from the Italian club for a club-record £97.5m last summer – on a permanent deal.
Lukaku had an underwhelming first campaign back at Stamford Bridge, scoring just 15 goals in 44 games in all competitions, and often started on the bench during the second half of the season.
