Nigeria head coach Eric Chelle has called on the Super Eagles to quickly move on from their World Cup disappointment and channel all their energy into the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The West African giants begin their Group C campaign today in Fes against Tanzania, with Tunisia and Uganda also lying in wait. Speaking ahead of the opener, Chelle made it clear that dwelling on past setbacks would only distract from the task at hand.
“We are here and we have a game tomorrow and also we have a tournament, so we don’t have the time to think about what has happened before,” Chelle said.
“This is not the moment to talk about the World Cup qualifiers. For now, the most important thing is this tournament.”
The Franco-Malian coach stressed that a positive start could define Nigeria’s entire AFCON journey.
“Our first game is a big game and the first game is very important, and for sure we want to win this game,”
With expectations high, the Super Eagles are aiming to set the right tone as they chase a fourth continental crown.
