Former Ghana international Charles Taylor has expressed serious reservations about the Black Stars’ prospects at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
He believes the current setup under head coach Otto Addo does not inspire confidence ahead of the tournament to be hosted by the USA, Canada and Mexico.
Taylor’s concerns come despite recent moves by the Ghana Football Association to expand the national team’s technical bench.
The FA has added five new members to the backroom staff in an effort to improve preparation and performance.
However, Taylor is unconvinced the changes address what he sees as deeper issues within the team.
“Some of our players are not even in good shape at the moment, ” he told Sporty FM.
“I am not sure of our chances because people are saying we will beat Panama, which I find strange.”
Ghana are expected to regroup next month for high-profile friendly matches against Austria and Germany during the March international window.
Taylor argues that exposure alone will not fix the team’s struggles.
“We are not doing well
at the moment, and it is my concern.
“We have spent money to bring new people to join the technical team. Why didn’t we spend that money on hiring an experienced coach?”
