Former Ghana and Hearts of Oak winger Charles Taylor has urged the Ghana Football Association to consider appointing Sammy Adjei as the Black Stars’ goalkeepers’ trainer.
Speaking on Angel TV, Taylor praised Adjei’s distinguished playing career and argued that his experience would be invaluable in shaping Ghana’s next generation of goalkeepers.
“With the kind of performance Sammy Adjei showed in his playing career, if Ghanaians are being honest, he should be the Black Stars’ goalkeepers’ trainer,” Taylor said. “Sometimes the way we live in this country buries talents.”
Adjei was Ghana’s first-choice goalkeeper in the early 2000s and enjoyed a hugely successful spell with Hearts of Oak, where he played a key role in the club’s historic treble winning the Ghana Premier League, FA Cup and CAF Champions League.
He later served the Black Stars with distinction and is widely regarded as one of Ghana’s finest goalkeepers of his generation.
Although Adjei’s post-retirement involvement in football has been limited, Taylor believes his technical knowledge and experience could significantly strengthen the national team’s goalkeeping department.
The call comes amid ongoing discussions about improving the Black Stars’ technical setup as Ghana prepares for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
